Louise Slope Nourished Nest

Hello!

I’m Louise Slope

A BANT registered Nutritional Therapist, specialising in maternal and child nutrition.

I am passionate about empowering parents to make positive food choices for their children, so they feel confident their child is getting the best start in life, to grow, learn and thrive.

Additionally, I have expertise in working with extreme picky eating and children who have neurodiversity, including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and Dyspraxia.

My mission is to reduce stress and worry related to family nutrition, enabling families to enjoy quality time together.

My main goal is to provide parents with simple strategies and confidence to create positive mealtime experiences and nurture their children to have a healthy attitude toward food.

Our children are growing rapidly, and a diverse range of nutrient-rich foods is essential for their immune system, mental wellness, learning, development, emotional well-being and a smooth transition through puberty.

I help parents navigate through conflicting advice and opinions, easing the pressure felt to get it right all the time. So you can approach parenting with greater ease and clarity.

I provide personalised online consultations to help families make manageable dietary changes tailored to their needs.

For those who prefer a group setting, I offer workshops with practical tips.

My background in food science and product development, I bring a unique perspective to prenatal, postnatal, and child nutrition. Providing tailored recipe recommendations that suit busy lifestyles and budgets.

I understand that not all children are adventurous eaters and may have dietary restrictions, so I customise my programs to suit your child's specific requirements.

As a mother of two, I've learned first hand about handling picky eaters.

So WHY did I retrain to be a Nutritional Therapist?

Struggling with introducing solid foods to my second child was a turning point for me. Trying to encourage home-cooked meals and limit processed foods led me to retrain in nutritional therapy. It turned out my son had sensory eating issues, with sensitivities to textures, flavours, and smells. We initially believed it was a phase, but the advice that 'they'll eventually eat when hungry enough' didn't apply.

This situation made eating out and enjoying meals as a family challenging. Daily mealtime battles, a negative relationship with food, concerns about missing essential nutrients and limited help available at the time. This motivated me to retrain in nutritional therapy.

During my studies, I learned valuable strategies, like not pressuring my child because of his fear of eating. We started introducing new foods gradually on a "trying plate," letting him take a bite when he felt ready. It's been a slow process, but now he enjoys 5-6 different vegetables and even claims sushi as his favourite food!

Louise Slope founder of Nourished Nest

I completed a 3-year diploma at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition, specialising in Nutritional Therapy to support parents in their food-related challenges, enabling them to enjoy the early years of parenthood.

I continually update my knowledge through ongoing professional development to stay informed about the latest research. My approach is based on providing a supportive environment without judgment, offering empathy, reassurance, and guidance.

I understand that what works for one family may not work for another. In 1:1 consultations, I gather detailed information about your or your child's diet, health history, symptoms, and lifestyle. Together, we create a personalised food and lifestyle program tailored to your specific needs.

If you're ready to improve both you and your child’s relationship with food and need support in making healthier food choices for a great start in life, I'm here to help you.

Let's work together to achieve your goals!

I shared my family's journey to let you know I recognise that not every child will conform to my recommendations, and that's perfectly okay. Together, we will explore what works best for your child to help them grow, learn, and thrive.

Client Feedback

9 year-old boy, with digestive problems

“I'm so grateful for the help that Louise gave my son with his digestive problems and anxiety. She was so knowledgeable and had obviously done a lot of work into his case and how to help him. I felt we were in really safe hands. She was also very non-judgemental and understands the real life struggles of getting our kids to eat healthy food and take supplements. She was full of helpful tips and adaptations to support him - and these have rippled through the family to help my other children too. My son's digestive symptoms are much improved and the range of foods he eats is much wider.”

11 year-old girl, hormone support

“Louise is just simply amazing. She took the time to understand the situation, and was able to simplify the issues, suggest what could be the cause and how to approach fixing it. She was extremely knowledgeable but didn't swamp us with too much information. Rather it was explained in layman's terms and clear. I felt totally reassured that she could help and whilst we are still on the journey, we are making progress and her support and counsel had been invaluable.”

Pregnant, Gut Support

“I had 5 session with Louise and her advice has made such a big difference to my health. I had struggled for years with IBS and was on a cocktail of medication but I felt it wasn’t getting any better. i felt she really listened to my history and made a personalised plan for me and my lifestyle that I could manage and actually stick to. Now with a better understanding of what my gut needs I can manage my symptoms purely with diet. I felt her background and training was of a really high standard and I felt really confident with her advice and supported all the way through. Louise explained the science behind gut health so clearly and how this relates to my personal symptoms which really helped my understand my situation better. Her recipes were easy to follow and most importantly delicious.”

Postnatal Support

“Louise was so informative throughout our work together, providing really helpful information in diagrams and written information both during our sessions and afterwards for me to use to help inform my choices. I always felt like the information given was a choice and there were so many options for incorporating positive changes into my diet. I felt very held and supported by Louise who has excellent listening skills and was so compassionate throughout our time working together. It has helped me make lasting changes to our family diet and I am seeing the health benefits as a result. “
